When you think of Coleco many instantly think of gaming. Well as a kid I remember a friend of mine who had a Colecovision console which I wanted badly. Coleco also manufactured many of my favorite childhood video games and were highly regarded for thier efforts in the early 1980s hand held sports gaming market!. Anyone remember Donkey Kong and Ms. Pac-Man Coleco was behind the lauch of these 80s classics! I was lucky enough as kid to have several Coleco Table top Video Games such as Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Galaxian! Thats another post for another day! The gaming Giant also had significant wins in the toy industry as well..such as it was with their profit explosion with the giant Cabbage Patch Kid craze Coleco also tested the lucrative boys toy market with one of the oft not discussed Warriors of Symbion..The Sectaurs! I had no idea what in the heck these things were as my only exposure to the toys was on a TV toy commercial which was enough to sold me on the line and as it was with X-Mas at my house one year was dedicated to Symbions best Warriors!!

My one Sectaurs regret is that I never owned a Dargon figure!! One of my frieds had the fancy silver series 2 figure that I always secretly lusted after but alas I never acquired the central figure to the entire collection..instead I had the second stringers..Zak, Mantor, Pinsor..and No Dargon!! The toys themselves came in cool windowed packaging and the deluxe figures came with highly detailed fur covered insects that the Sectaurs could ride on!!

The insects were monted on a black glove that you could put on your hand that would resemble the insects legs!! The insects design were very well done! Infact if you were stubling through a bin of old toys it would be the Sectaurs insects that would stop the common man dead in his tracks. The deluxe sets were amazing and if any of my subscribers has one to give away (Shameless plug) Old Charlton Hero here will certainly help a brother out!

As with all cool toys of the day they also were backed by Marvel Comics and had a short but great Comic Book! I collected several of the comic books but I was unfortunately not in a hotbed for comic collecting and missed several issues that I later grabbed at a “Nice Price”! Issue #1 was like salt in the wounds with a full blown Dargon cover!! I still love this cover to this day and wonder would Sectaurs last if released today? I guess we will never know..

Satellite Extra: Even though this is a Flash Transmission not intended to be a long post..for the hell of it I will include all 5 episodes of The Sectaurs mini cartoon series!! Take care Heroes! Enjoy!!

Going to a video store in the 1980s was always a treat. Those who remember these journeys for cinematic fun should remember that movies look a lot different than they do now. One of my absolute faves was the Original Disney Clam shell VHS release of TRON. I can still see it on the shelf, weather beaten, sun bleached but powerful as hell. I wanted to be on that Grid more than anything!Disney did a great job with cover graphics and back cover information!

TRON Original Disney VHS Clam Shell Release!

The attention to detail even on the tape itself was amazing and a lost art these days even on some DVDs and Blu-Rays which a lot of times take shortcuts with disk graphics!

Check out the fun tape graphics Disney included on their VHS tapes!

The Tron Arcade Game (See Below) was legendary at the time but it was this one video tape that kept me coming back! Come on..how about Clam Shell DVD or Blu-Rays! Get on it! Ill buy em!

Transmission has been interrupted by a Recognizer in the area..Till next time Heroes!

In the Bowels of a public library as a kid I stumbled upon two tattered graphic novels at the bottom of their less than extensive collection. I pulled out a set of books that changed the way I looked at convention comic books. I found ElfQuest! Created in 1978 by creators Richard and Wendy Pini, owners of Warp Graphic Publications. ElfQuest had a very strong underground following and by the early 80s The Pini’s went on to dictate what was know as The Original Quest of which I was instantly intrigued by! The books were illustrated by Wendy Pini herself and  was unlike anything on the racks. The characters were unique, and showcased a lot of behavior that was considered a faux pas at the time it launched mainstream under the Marvel Comics Epic banner. It was loaded with violence , death, sex, and an intense storyline of struggle and survival!

Elf Quest #1 Marvel Comics reprints of the original classic series.

ElfQuest: The Original Quest was reprinted by Marvel Comics and lasted 32 issues and gave the Pini’s creation the mainstream boost it needed. I strongly recommend any fans of comics looking for something different to check out ElfQuest. Fans of fantasy, Lord Of the Rings, The Hobbit would truly love this book. So that’s your homework hero’s. Hunt these books down and enjoy!

Fans of the series long after the cancellation of the original series and its subsequent sequels and Quests have made sure that ElfQuest lives on. A fan made trailer has been making its rounds and is actually quite well done!
